Kisii county residents have once again reiterated that the planned peaceful demonstrations will go on as earlier on planned. The demonstrations according to the residents will take place on September,7. The residents are accusing the county government led by Governor James Omariba Ongwae for misappropriation of funds meant for Covid-19 patients.
In one voice the residents have pointed a finger to CEC health Ms Sarah Omache as the one behind the misappropriation. They say the county government has been unable to account for millions that it received to help curb the spread of COVID-19 in the county.
The Kisii county residents are calling upon the Ongwae led the government to account on the funds received and how they were used and who benefitted from the same. However, the county has remained numb on the issue and is yet to come out clearly and shed light on the funds.
This comes at a time when the Ministry of Health has been accused of misusing funds received from donors in order to help in fighting the novel coronavirus. It is alleged that officials from the ministry benefited from the funds and pocketed large sums of money meant for patients.
The Kisii county residents have vowed to take to the streets and force the county government to make them understand how the funds were spent.
