‘There is simply no possibility that Raila beat me in Nyeri’ – Ruto reacts to whistleblower’s claims

President William Ruto has responded to a report released by a whistleblower claiming the presidential election was rigged in his favour.

In a tweet on January 29, 2023, at 11:23 pm, Ruto strongly dismissed the reports by the whistleblower.

Wajinga waliisha Kenya. There is simply no possibility that Raila beat Ruto in Uasin Gishu, Nyeri,Tharaka nithi and Meru. Yet that is what the so called whistleblower claims,” Ruto tweeted,

The alleged Whistleblower’s report, published by The Star, claimed that Raila Odinga won the August 9, 2022, presidential elections with a 58 per cent to Ruto’s 42 per cent – contrary to 49 per cent to 50 per cent official result respectively.

The report released by an individual claiming to be an Independent Electoral Commission (IEBC) whistleblower alleged that there was more rigging at constituency levels and that most parliamentary results were also rigged in favour of the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.

The emergence of whistleblower reports has provided fodder for politicians as both the government and the opposition trade accusations.

Ruto has maintained that nothing will bar him from administering his presidential duties while Raila on the other hand wants the president and his deputy to resign.

Speaking at Jacaranda Grounds in Nairobi on Sunday, January 29, the opposition chief asked the Common Wealth and the United Nations to deploy teams to Kenya to look into the reports within two weeks, failure to which Kenyans will take matters into their own hands.
