Senate wants Nyong’o to explain car, loan mortgage scheme fund for Kisumu MCAs

Kisumu Governor Anyang Nyong’o has been summoned by the Senate to shed light on the Kisumu County Assembly car and loan mortgage scheme fund.
Senate County Public Investments and Special Funds Committee wants Nyong’o to appear before it on Thursday November 17, 2022.
The Senate committee resolved to summon the Kisumu governor after a sitting held on November 8, which was occasioned by the Auditor General Nancy Gathungu’s report on the county’s financial statements.

In a letter dated November 9, 2022 by the Senate clerk J.M Nyegenye and also copied to the Auditor General, the Senate committee wants Nyong’o to shed light on the Kisumu county assembly car and loan mortgage scheme fund for the year ended June 30, 2021.
The Senate committee also want the Kisumu governor to answer questions about the county education fund and county Covid-19 emergency response fund for the year ended June 30, 2021.
The committee also requested the Kisumu county boss to submit information on the list of projects funded by World Bank and Kenya Urban Support Project in Kisumu and the amount involved.
Also demanded by the the committee are detailed information on Kisumu 42 ventures Limited, information on the Afri-Cities Convention Centre and the Africities Conference that was held in Kisumu.
Nyong’o is also required to table information on the Kano rice project and any grants received by the county for the development of Kibuye market and Kenyatta Sports ground and funds received by the Lake Region Economic Bloc.
