ODM’s Abdulswamad Nassir declared Mombasa Governor-Elect

Former Mvita Member of Parliament (MP) Abdulswamad Nassir of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has been declared the new Mombasa Governor.
Nassir, who was elected alongside his running mate Francis Thoya, was declared Governor-Elect after he garnered 119,082 votes trouncing his main challenger United Democratic Alliance (UDA’s) Hassan Omar who had 98,180 votes.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Mombasa County Returning Officer Swalha Yusuf presented the certificate to Nassir at the county tallying centre.
Raila congratulates Abdulswamad, Barasa
Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga offered his congratulatory message to the outgoing legislator and his Bungoma counterpart Governor-Elect Fernandes Barasa.
“Kakamega na Mombasa mumedhihirisha kwamba Kenya nzima ni Azimio. Hongera Brasa Fernandes a Abdulswamad Nassir. To our loyal supporters who came out to vote for them and Azimio as a whole on the 9th of August, I Thank You! Better days are coming!” Raila wrote.
