The Kenya National African Union (KANU) has proposed former Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka as the running mate of Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya Alliance presidential candidate Raila Odinga’s running in the August 9 polls.

KANU, through its Chairman Gideon Moi, said Kalonzo is the most suitable person to deputise Raila.

“It is our considered opinion and strongly believes that H.E Hon Stephen Kalonzo fits the bill and is the most suitable individual to deputise H.E Rt Hon Raila Amolo Odinga,” Moi wrote in a letter to Azimio Deputy President Selection Panel.

He added: “It is our sincere hope that this panel will consider and find him appropriate for the position of Deputy President and consequently recommend his selection as such.”

Kalonzo quest for DP position

Kalonzo’s brigade has engaged top gear in its quest to land the number two position in Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya Alliance.

The Wiper leader has gone slow in campaigns for the Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga who has pitched camp in Central Kenya.

Instructively, the deadline for presidential aspirants to submit the names of their running-mates is May 16, hardly two weeks away.

The alliance has since formed a panel chaired by former Minister Noah Wekesa to hunt for Raila running mate.
