Ruto on agriculture
Mohammed said the government is set to distribute over 300,000 metric tonnes of subsidised fertilisers, going for Ksh3,500 instead of Ksh7,000.
“On Agriculture, farmers in Kisii and Nyamira counties, are now receiving subsidized fertilizer through the government’s Fertilizer Subsidy program, meant to cushion farmers against the high cost of fertilizer, increase agricultural production and address food insecurity. As we all know, fertilizers play a crucial role in increasing crop yields and enhancing productivity,” Hussein said.
“However, the high costs have been a major challenge for our farmers, limiting their ability to fully utilize their lands and reap maximum profits. That is why the President took bold steps to address this issue by providing subsidies to farmers, making fertilizers more accessible and affordable, reducing the price from Ksh7500 to Ksh3500.”
Farmers wishing to access the subsidised fertiliser must, however, be digitally registered through Assistant Chiefs’ offices countrywide.
